Resignation

10 Mar 2018 by Craig Dedicoat

I spoke at the end of today’s game about how the dynamics had changed within the team and we no longer had the total harmony in the team which was the bed rock of our progression over the years.

Unfortunately, I do not have the right qualities to deal with the attitudes being encountered and are getting frustrated by the lack of commitment that is creeping in, although in most cases can’t be helped.

I also feel I have taken the team has far as I can and no longer command the necessary respect and or authority, which ultimately is due to my failings and don’t wish to hold the Girls back.

Therefore, it is with a very heavy heart that after 6 amazing years running Cookley Girls, I have, after many months of deliberation, decided to steps aside as Manager at the end of this season.

The timing may not be right, but, can no longer be contained; I hope those that wish to see out the season with me will do so with the right attitude and desire.

I realise all good things do have to come to an end and wish to place on record that the loyalty that many of the girls have given me over the years has been beyond measure.

We have created along the way some incredible memories and friendships that will last for ever.

I have been blessed to have been able to manage such a talented group of Girls and am immensely proud of our achievements and legacy we leave.

Whilst I am stepping aside I will continue to support Girls and Ladies football at Cookley whenever I can and may help with the Ladies on a Sunday, without the commitment of being Manager and hopefully watch Lucie extend her playing career.

The current Cookley under 16s team may look to step in to our under 18 Premier slot for season 2018-19 thereby ensuring Cookley continue to offer the highest level of football at the club on a Saturday and would welcome any influx of new players.

This decision has been a very emotional one to take, particularly has I have looked at the Girls has being my own and watched them grow during their formative years in to Young Ladies, thanks for the memories you will never be forgotten.
