Nunnery Wood 2 Cookley 5
Result over performance !
Inactivity, no mater who you play, combined with players not being available in certain positions can effect performance.
We did start brightly and our focus on playing football shone through, but, that soon disappeared when we were caught out ball watching and presented the left winger with all the time, unchallenged, to carry the ball forward and make a simple passed cross that was tapped in.
Their lead was short lived with Evie finishing well after a lovely move, 1-1, but, we repeated our down fall again, conceding a goal in the exact same manner, 2-1.
Our performance descended in to a pattern of poor quality decision making with flashes of brilliance, giving hope that we could create and score, but, may also concede.
The game changed just before half time with Nunnery firstly going down to 10 and then 9.
We accept the opportunity in the knowledge we don’t always get our fair share of luck and punished Nunnery to the full.
Second half goals from Alice 2, Tara, and Shell turned the game in to a comprehensive result, whilst not at our best we take the 3 points and the much needed game time.
Ellie returned after 5 weeks plus out and put in an whole hearted performance that should set the tone for others to follow in the coming weeks when it is going to be needed to achieve our main objectives.
Holly returned has a substitute after a long illness and will offer some further stability in defence.
Evie returned after her hamstring strain and circumstances allowed us not to risk over use and any reoccurrence with one eye on the semi finals.
Well done Tara on her first goal for the team, Alice for 2 well taken goals and Brodie for her continued influence.
Player of the match was Ellie
We must regain our identity of a football playing team and ensure we improve our fitness levels over the coming weeks to help with our work rate off the ball and our general ability to be more effective in possession.
Well done all
